BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPRUD) — The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a body was found in a lake in Baton Rouge.
According to the sheriff’s office, around 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning, deputies were called to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Bluebonnet Boulevard and Harveston Way. Upon arrival, deputies learned the vehicle was in a lake near the intersection.
The St. George Fire Department entered the lake and located the driver, who has been identified as 40-year-old Alex Gonzalez-Hernandez.
After investigating, deputies learned that Gonzalez-Hernandez was headed north on Bluebonnet at an unknown speed. Gonzalez-Hernandez’s vehicle left the roadway through a wooden fence and struck a tree. The car ended up in a pond, where it sank.

She had contacted the East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office, which will determine the cause of death.
