Proctorville – You had to see the one who got out.

No, that was not the fisherman’s story. It was a more horror story about Chesapeake Panthers, but a fairy tale about Fairland Dragons.

In the battle for only possession in the first place in the Ohio Valley Conference, the thought between the invincible was exactly what would be expected in terms of battle.

But the loss was devastating for the panthers, who once held a lead of 11 points and were up to 7 in the fourth quarter, just to see Fairland tie the game and then win 55-49 in double overtime.

The victory gives Fairland at least a share of the OVC title. Chesapike should win in Ironon on Monday and against Fairland next Friday.

“It was a great game. Both teams played hard. But I am proud of my children because they never give up. We were smaller in the whole game until the end of the regulation, when we tied it and they received their first lead in the second overtime, “said Fairland coach Nathan speed.

“I don’t think anyone gave a great chance before the season, but they worked hard and believed in themselves. Brody Buchanan appeared big in the clutch with his game, but he also did great as a leader. “

Brody Buchanan was a prince charming to the dragons, as he scored 30 points, including everyone but 2 in the return of the fourth quarter, as Fairland surpassed Chesapike 17-8.

“I’m not trying to lose. I hate to lose, ”said Buchanan as he explains why he plays so well in the fourth quarter.

Chesapike (18-2, 11-1) led 28-17 leads to start the second half when Carson Freka returned his shot. Trevor Lohow’s 3-Indication received Fairland within 30-25, but Freka scored 3 points, and Ethan Kerns had a layout and was 35-25.

Dragons (18-1, 13-0) were within 43-40 after 18-foot from Buchanan, but the placement of Caden Perkins and Madox Casey gave Chesapike 47-40.

Kigan Smith struck the arrangement, and then a 3-pointed bunch, came out with a theft and arrangement to tie the game with 1:46 to play.

Chesapike turned the ball and Fairland games for the last shot just to be fouled with one second to the left, and Buchanan failed to connect

There was only one shot in the first overtime-a missed arrangement by Chesapike-and Fairland took his first lead in the game when Smith struck the second of 2 free throws to make 48-47.

Buchanan made a 1:02 stack on the clock and then made 2 of 4 attempts at free throw for the lead 52-47.

Perkins struck a pair of fake shots with 19 seconds and was 52-49, but Cliff Francon struck a fake shot with 16 seconds, and Buchanan sank 2 free throws.

Chesapik led 13-7 after the first quarter and 26-17 of the half. Fairland actually received within 2 points in the second quarter but Kazee pulled back back

While Buchanan scored only 7 points in the first half and 23 after halftime, Panter Kazi’s leading goalkeeper was detained with only 2 points after scoring 15 in the first half.

“I like to keep the best player on the other team. They will hit several shots. He hit a few great shots tonight, but I won’t be derailed by my confidence in the protective end, “said Buchanan

“This is one possession at a time. He takes a shot, I’ll get off and try to stop the next game. “

Franco scored 12 points and had 7 fights for Fairland.

Kazi led Fairland with 17 points, while Perkins scored 12 and Frecka 11.
