By james art The joined jobs will vote this week on a contract of employment that traders and manufacturers hope to secure peace on the shore by September 2030, and will banish concerns of repetition of a three -day strike in October, which transferred US trade, The Wall Street Journal Reports.
Workers are expected to ratify the new contract on Tuesday, which international leaders of the Longshoremen Association lead as a “historic” victory with a 62% increase in pay and “full protection against automation” in the ports of the east coast and the Persian coast.
Some port employers also foretell the deal.
Although the contract gives workers more than expected salaries, managers say, it also allows companies to introduce technologies faster that will increase efficiency and will thin out some of the cost of increasing wages. For example, the contract allows companies to introduce some cranes with a remote operation, which employers say it saves time that workers otherwise spend an ascent to and beyond the equipment.
Shipping executives complain that ports of US ports are lagging behind in Europe and Asia in automation.
