Douglas County, Ore. – Due to the accumulation of snow, ice and fallen trees, some of the most vulnerable inhabitants of Douglas County needed some help on Thursday.
The Douglas County Senior Services Department (DCSSD) has made the call for help after some volunteers with Douglas County Douglas have failed to reach the homes of the elderly who rely on food delivery and well -being.
Douglas County Commissioners activated and granted an auxiliary hand.

The recipients of lunch were excited to greet and visit our three commissioners as they passed through the snow to bring their diet to their doors. Nutritional food, friendly visit and safety check help the elderly deal with three of the largest threats of aging: hunger, isolation and loss of independence.
DCSSD manages seven bistri sixty senior dining sites that prepare the elderly dishes that dine and feed wheels on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at rural areas in Glide, Glendale, Reedsport, Riddle, Sutherlin , Winston and Yoncalla. Hot dishes are available Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11:30 am to 12:15 pm on every senior dining site.
According to district officers, DCSSD delivers over 78,000 meals every year to adults in Douglas County as part of their wide range of services for stable communities.
The commissioners in total delivered 47 hot and frozen dishes to senior clients in Glendale and Azalea on Thursday.
