Baton Rouge – the Ministry of Transport and Development of Louisiana repaired and replaced thousands of reflectors who were damaged or scraped by snow plows, clearing roads after the most snowfall in the capital for more than 100 years.
To cope with the task of clearing the highways of the state, Ladotd borrows 16 snow plows and 70 workers from the Ministry of Transport in Arkansas, which were located in the state to clear large highways of ice and snow.
Ladotd spokesman Rodney Malet said that the resumption of road sails was the main priority of the department, which caused the reflectors to be scraped in the process.
“You think about the economy. People had to get to work, and we are a very important load corridor, “Male said. “That is why we focused on trying to keep the route to the east and west. The United States 190 remained open all the time. “
As for the reflectors, the damage is extensive. Thousands of reflectors probably need repair or need to be replaced directly. Mallet said that a full number was not completed yet.
Ladotd hires a contractor for repairs, although no timeline or cost estimate has been provided.
The most affected routes include I-10 from the State Line of Texas to the I-55, parts of I-55, parts of I-10 in New Orleans, the airline’s highway and several others. While the main routes were cleared, DOTD has not yet appreciated the full degree of damage.
“Many of the areas that were not even closed, we will have to go and check all these,” Male said.
