Doral Academy in Nevada, selected as the winner of Nevada for national competition – KTVN

The Samsung technology company is moving to the next step in its competition for the decision for tomorrow, narrowing the participants to one of each country. Nevada’s winner is right here in Renault.

The North Nevada Doral Academy was selected as the winner of the country for Nevada in the 15th annual Samsung competition.

The competition for solving tomorrow is a national competition for children in grades 6-12 to use STEM disciplines to create solutions for problems in their local communities.

For the victory of the state, Doral Academy received a $ 12,000 Samsung awards package. This includes a video set for displaying the SCE’s proposed decision of the school submitted for the competition.

For the competition, students at Doral are busy helping a student. The student is missing from his hand from the forearm down, which prevented him from playing the violin.

The team designs a prosthetic hand that will allow him to hold and use the bow while he uses his hand on the violin to finger the notes. The team also plans to turn on a plucking mechanism so that it can play pizzico when needed.

Samsung provides employees to serve as mentors for state teams moving forward by managing the teams by developing projects and building a prototype as they are being built on the last phase of the competition.

10 finalist schools will be selected from 50 states. The seven runners -up will earn $ 50,000 in technology and classroom supplies.

Three national winners will receive a prize pack worth $ 100,000.
