Renault Omokri says that Frank MBA, Deputy Police Inspector (DIG), should not be related to the contradiction of Kayode Eggetokun, the police inspector.

Recently, Egbetokun’s term of office as IGP has sparked debate over whether the police chief had to retire after he was 60 years old in September 2024.

However, Latef Fagbemi, Federation General Prosecutor (AGF) and the Minister of Justice, said that the continuous stay of EGBetokun was legal and that the appointment of IGP, which came into force on October 31, 2023, remained valid for four years.

Against the backdrop of the dispute, some social media users have accused MBA, which is being extracted by IGBO, standing behind the problems surrounding IGP’s term, claiming it was a strategy to pave its path to replace Egbetokun.

Others said Egbekun’s mandate was extended to make sure that an Igbo employee would not inherit it.

Joining the brawl, Omokri said that negative propaganda connecting MBA with the controversy of the mandate, “just puts it in a very bad light, thus putting his career in danger.”

The former president’s assistant added that the appointment of IGP by the president cannot be “influenced by the pressure of social media or by small sentiment.”

“Honestly, typical of contemporary Nigerian expectations, I thought that maybe these stories on social media may have been influenced by the predicted person to take advantage of it from some of the unclean,” Omokri said.

“However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that on the contrary, Dig Frank is very close to IGP Egbetokun and shows a rare and superior sense of loyalty, which can only be described as fierce and continuous.
