Donald Lee Braden, 67 – Port City every day

Wilmington – in the love memory of Donald Lee Briden, Jr., who died quietly on February 9, 2025. Born on June 10, 1957 in Alexandria, Virginia, Don’s journey through life is marked by dedication, kindness and deep love for his family and community. He was 67 years old.

Don spent three decades working with the prison system in North Carolina in Wilmington, where he dedicated himself to service to his retirement. After retiring, he continues to contribute to his community by working on Shell Island, where he is known for his unwavering honesty and commitment.

A man with many passions, Don loved to accept his family bowling, watch football and fishing. His biggest joy was to spend time with his family, creating hidden memories that will continue for a lifetime. He attended the Baptist Church of Freedom and lived his life, inspired by his love for his Lord and Savior.

Don is preceded by death by his parents, Donald L. Braden, Senior and Rita Brandeer Braden. He leaves behind a heritage of love, an example from his wife, Cornelia Elaine Brid, and his children Aaron Brid and his wife Kim and Kayla Barger and her husband Andrew, all of whom reside at Wilmington. His five grandchildren Ayla, Nadine, Cameron, Kylie and Caleb were a constant source of pride and joy for him. He also survived his beloved pet cat, sweet and countless extended family members and friends he met during his trip.

The holiday of Don’s remarkable life will be held at 11:00 on Monday, February 17, 2025, in the Baptist Church of Freedom, located on 802 North College Road, Wilmington, NC 28405. The Reverend Mace will serve the services.
