(Louison, Idaho), strong protection and basketball sharing were key on Saturday for number 19 LC State Women’s Basketball in his 86-45 win over Northwest University (Washington). Warriors celebrated the record for the season 28 assists with 19 stolen balls and 27 forced failures in the race.
Eli Sander led an 18 -point LC State with an effective playing 8 for 11.
“A fun weekend for Warrior Women’s Basketball,” said coach Caelyn Orlandi. “I was extremely proud of our efforts in defense this weekend and liked the way our team trained and introduced itself. Two major training topics of the week were achieved during our games and I look forward to continuing this effort. “
The victory improves the LC State record to a total of 16-4 and 10-4 in the Cascade Conference game.
How it became
The LC State found the match with a convincing 8-0 series of baskets of Herring, Sander and Hayimas. The consecutive threes of Sander and Sitara Bird had the advantage of 18-6 to 3:42 before the baskets of Kendall Wallace and Sander to close the first 10 minutes with Warriors in the lead by 24-13.
Warrior’s defense almost turned off Eagles in the second frame. The only NU point came with a penalty throw and LC State beat his opponent 20-1 in the quarter. Bird scored six points, Herring scored five, Hayimas added four, Tatum Brager scored three, and Wallace added two for the lead from 44-14 on the break.
Sander and Haymes baskets finished the 17-point series, which began in the second quarter, for a 52-14 lead with 6:26 in the third. The advantage was 66-29 after 10 minutes of play.
Warrior’s spare bench drained big baskets in the fourth quarter, with Grace Beiredin’s pass and 3 points of Brager and Tessa Carlberg made 74-33 at 7:17. Keira O’Neal, Ella Nelson, Carlberg and Bella Firkokoes added to the overall result in the last minutes of winning 86-45.

Sander led all scorers with 18 points in shooting 8 for 11. She added four assists and four taken balls to her evening. Bird scored 16 points, six rebounds and two taken balls, while Hering scored a total of 14 points, seven board, five assists, three blocks and two taken balls.
Lindsay Wilson leveled his career record with four assists, and Himas made five. The 28 assists are the most for the team this season and came to a high level with 35 inserted basket. Warriors forced 27 balls that brought 33 points.
“What I like in today’s match was our 28 assists and 27 forced balls,” Orlands said. “I love when we share the ball and have a balanced attack on an attack and especially I love when we can turn our defense into an attack.”
LC State detains Northwest to 31.3% shooting from play and grabbed 41 rebounds against 33 of NU. Kaleah Madeiros and Kimberly Carrada Sanchez led Eagles with 13 points each, and Ellie de Waard grabbed eight rebounds.
