Dodge County Sheriff’s Office Identifies Crash Victim – WOWT

FREMONT, Neb. (WOWT) – Dodge County authorities have identified the man killed in a three-car crash northeast of Fremont Friday afternoon.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office said in an update Monday that 80-year-old Leonard Nielsen of Fremont died from injuries sustained in the crash on Luther Road at Highway 30.

Nielsen was driving a red GMC pickup truck south on Luther Road and crossed Interstate 30/275 around 4:20 p.m. Friday, according to updates from the sheriff’s office. An eastbound Mustang struck the pickup on the driver’s side, sending it into a ditch south of the freeway. The Mustang then spun and struck the GMC Yukon.

Nielsen was taken to Methodist Fremont Health, where he died as a result of his injuries.

Authorities say neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash.
