The worst year of her career in high school came as a freshman in 2021-22, when she was an average of 25.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 2.3 blocks per match. It ended this season with 1 001 points, despite a record 260 assists.

Speaking of school records, Chavez has a bunch of them in Monterey.

Along with the season records, she also holds school records for most points in the game (57), most points per season (1324), career points (4,587), 3-indicators in the game (13), 3-peaks per season (187) and 3 career indicators (609).

It is the second in the history of the school with 454 career thefts and second in career struggles (1,230) and is the third in most struggles in the game with 23.

Flanged by star of Junior Ambolia Cole and Ari Johnson, Monterey is ranked # 6 in class 5a by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches-San Antonio Wagner (28-3), Leander Glenn (32-3), Liberty Hill (31-3 ), Tascosa (30-4) and Amarillo High (27-5).

Of all the confessions she has achieved, winning a national championship is what is still avoided by Chavez. Now her last shot may be her best shot. But whether the next shot she makes is her last, Aaliyah Chavez will be one of the best.
