Dip, walk and see: open Wilmington’s new social area – WWAY NEWSCHANNEL 3

Wilmington, NC (WWAY) – a pilot program in the Wilmington Arts Brooklyn area allows patrons to walk around the area with drinks in their hand.

The Social Region extends from North Front to Taylor Street. On Saturdays, from 12 to 5 pm, visitors can carry their drinks in certain glasses while walking between shops, restaurants and other local companies.

However, drinks must be completed or discarded before entering other ABC-licked establishments.

For Paige Lundberg, the attempt was a fun way to explore the area and enjoy the sunny day.

“We walked up and down the fourth street, saw all the lines, all the different shops and suppliers, and we were excited super. We grabbed our first drink at Edward Teach, and now we are here, we are waiting in a queue in the cafe in Brooklyn. So, we are excited and have fun. “

Lundberg is also excited about how this program can contribute to the growth of Wilmington.

“I know that Wilmington is really growing and wearing many young people and tourism in the area, so it will be interesting for me to see what he can do for the city.”

Local companies are also optimistic about the potential of the program to increase foot traffic. John Bradley, co -owner of Commodore, was excited to see the area that comes to life.

“You can see how busy he is here down here … Everyone goes out and enjoy the time. I think it helped that the storm we were before, gave to all the reason to get out, and his novelty brought even more people. “

Bradley hopes the initiative will continue to attract customers.

“We think it’s great for this area. This gives people to go down that they may not otherwise have, and this will help to establish the area for what is going on – a great place to go out. “

The pilot program will continue with two more events this month, including an event for benefits and a walk on Valentine’s Day.
