Ganesh Balamitran is a candidate for the Fremont Unified School Board, aiming to address the challenges facing the district. Born in Kolkata and raised in Mumbai, Balamitran has lived in Fremont for more than 20 years. With a background in technology marketing, he plans to use his diverse experience to benefit FUSD.
Its main goals include promoting student health, investing in high-quality faculty, and addressing the significant budget deficit. In an interview with India Currents, Balamithran emphasized the importance of creating an enabling environment where every child feels valued and supported. He also stressed the need to update school facilities and prioritize students’ mental health.
If elected, Balamitran’s top priorities will be fostering a sense of belonging for all students, improving classroom resources, and bringing the community together to address shared challenges. It recognizes the importance of diverse pathways to success and aims to provide students with the tools they need to thrive.
What sets Balamitran apart from his competitors is his extensive professional experience, including managing multi-million dollar workforce budgets. He has also been involved with Vibha, a non-profit educational organization, for 20 years, serving as treasurer for 12 years. Balamitran’s opponent, unlike him, recently graduated from high school and has no comparable life and professional experience.
During his campaign, Balamitran received support from students, alumni, teachers, staff and local leaders. It is endorsed by the teachers association and has personally received endorsements from approximately 30 teachers. Engaging voters through canvassing neighborhoods has been a focus of his campaign, with many community members joining him to canvass the neighborhoods and connect with voters.
