BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office credits residents with helping with several recent arrests as part of their efforts to get guns and drugs off the streets.
Henry Irby, public information officer for the sheriff’s office, said their deputies are committed to making neighborhoods safer. Thanks to numerous tips and information from community members, several arrests were made.
“Thank you to the citizens for the information provided; it helps our deputies keep your neighborhoods safe,” said Irby.
Irby explained that they received tips through the department’s app, Crime Stoppers, and direct calls from residents reporting illegal activity, which led to significant arrests.
“It’s great to see the community getting involved. They help us help them. From narcotics to firearms and Glock switches, it’s amazing what our deputies accomplish,” he added.
So far, deputies have seized at least 10 guns and various drugs, including methamphetamine and marijuana. Irby stressed that these arrests send a strong message to those who make bad decisions.
“I hope it makes them feel uncomfortable. We want them to know that we are working hard and using the information provided by citizens,” Irby said.
