Denham Springs Carjacking leads to a persecution that ends in East Baton Rouge’s crash, according to police – lawyer

Police officers at Denham Springs pursued a parish suspected East Baton Rugs on Friday before the pursuit ended with a Greenwell Springs Road crash, authorities said.

The suspect, 18-year-old Thomas Johnson, has been reported to have held a woman under shooting in the Denham Springs Walmart parking lot at South Range Avenue and stole her Toyota Corolla around 11am, police at Denham Springs said.

According to a spokesman for the officers, they deployed the stolen car, but the suspect refused to stop. Employees have initiated a persecution that leads them to Eastern Baton Rouge. When Johnson crashed a Greenwell Springs Road vehicle, officers were hiding him on foot and arrested him, police said.

The officers restored a black backpack and a rifle.

Johnson was booked at the parish prison in East Baton Rouge before being transferred to the parish prison in Livingston. No fees have been announced yet.

The investigation is ongoing.
