Democrats, Republicans close even in Nevada early voting – Las Vegas Sun

Registered Democrats in Nevada have a small turnout lead over Republicans and independents in the first two days of voting in the 2024 presidential election, according to the Nevada Secretary of State’s office.

At least 179,819 residents, or 9 percent, of the state’s 1,993,201 active voters cast ballots, updated data showed Monday. That includes 68,424 Democrats, 67,169 Republicans and 44,226 independents.

115,713 mail-in and EASE ballots were received and validated for processing, including 49,468 from registered Democrats. The mail-in total included 34,879 registered Republicans and 31,366 others.

EASE ballots are for voters with disabilities, military personnel in uniform and their families, out-of-state nationals, and tribal members who live on an Indian reservation or colony in Nevada.

In-person voting, which began Saturday, resulted in 64,106 ballots being cast over Saturday and Sunday, according to the Secretary of State. That includes about 30,000 of the 1,442,084 active registered voters in Clark County.

Republicans, who traditionally prefer to vote in person, cast 32,290 ballots over two days in person. For Democrats, it was 18,965; 12,860 for independents.

The period for early voting continues until November 1.

Clark County Democrats and Republicans hosted early voting events Saturday to mark the occasion. Nearly 30,000 of Clark County’s 1,442,084 active registered voters cast ballots in person in the first two days.

Former President Barack Obama visited North Las Vegas on behalf of Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign. Republicans hosted an event with speakers including US Senate candidate Sam Brown, Nevada Republican Party Chairman Michael McDonald and 3rd Congressional District candidate Drew Johnson.

Voters can check if their ballot has been mailed in by using BallotTrax, Nevada’s site to track, view and receive ballot status notifications.

The deadline for the Elections Department to receive mail-in ballots returned via the US Postal Service is 5:00 PM on November 9th and must be postmarked by Election Day, November 5th.

Signature issues must be resolved by November 12th. Voters who have discrepancies with their signatures will be contacted by the county.

Under Nevada law, election results cannot be reported until final voting is completed on Election Day.

The partisan programming will continue through the week with former President Bill Clinton in Las Vegas today and First Lady Jill Biden here the next day.

Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump is scheduled to appear Thursday at the Thomas & Mack Center. His vice president, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, is here Wednesday on Treasure Island.
