Delbridge family gives a blessing to move a zoo collection – 97.3 KKRC

The rest of the Delbridge family gave their blessing to move the Taxidermy collection to Great Plains Zoo from South Dakota.

According to Dakota News now … a group loaded with finding options for over 100 Delbridge Taxidermy animals I met on Monday to discuss the relocation of Sioux Falls’s Brockhouse’s historic collection.

The collection, originally purchased by CJ Delbridge and donated to the city by the Delbridge family, received support to move from Jane Delbridge and Joyce Fisher, the two surviving sisters from Delbridge.

After the application process, the University of Notre Dame will receive the bigger part of the collection, early in the Delbridge Nature Museum.

Additional pieces will be distributed to institutions in Georgia and New Jersey.

The collection will be gifted, not sold.

The proposed move is mainly guided by the challenges of maintaining the aging and chemical pollution of some of the mounting.

City authorities will vote on February 11 to determine the collection as a surplus of real estate, which would allow the transfer.

Siu Falls Municipal Councilor Kurt Sol Sol said: “The biggest information that has been presented only in the last two weeks is the fact that the Delbridge sisters, the surviving sisters, would agree to move this to Notre Dame. I cannot tell you personally about me how powerful it is to make this thing move on. This is a piece of powerful information. I appreciate the fact that this was done and they gave their blessing to it. “

CJ Delbridge purchased the Brockhouse Auction Collection in 1981 for $ 550,000.

Since 1984, it has been on display at the Great Plains Zoo as the Museum of Natural History of Delbridge, following Delbridge’s donation to Sioux Falls for the benefit of the Community.
