Delaware is being investigated after a police officer shot a man during a drug investigation, a Police Department in Wilmington said in a press release on Tuesday afternoon.
The firing incident happened around 1:00 pm in the 10th and Kirkwood streets, as drugs, organized crime and Deputy Prime Minister of the Wilmington Police Department were investigating.
Wilmington police said employees identified a 32-year-old suspect and tried to stop the movement. The suspect left, at one point, driving on the sidewalk. An employee fired his gun by hitting the suspect once, police said.
Officers immediately assisted the man before the paramedics arrived at the scene and the suspect was taken to the hospital. It is referred to as stable and criminal charges in anticipation after a further investigation, police said.
The officer was not injured. Currently, the identity of both the officer and the suspect.
The Criminal Investigation Department, the Professional Standards Service and the Delaware Ministry of Justice are investigating this incident.
