Deamontae Diggs The long way to FSU football includes many changes to hopes for NFL Glory - Tallahassee Democrat

The new Florida Football Liner, Deamontae Diggs, has a unique football trip.

Diggs is in its third team in its sixth year of eligibility.

However, this is his first Power Four team in FSU. Diggs took advantage of his latest FSU coach Mike Norvel and Defense Coordinator Tony White 3-3-5 scheme, hoping to play at NFL.

“I was really just looking for a home. Something that would bring me to the next level, so the coach Novel hit me, the coach (Tony) White struck me. They said I looked like them,” Diggs said.

“They told me that just like, man, you have what you need to go to the next level here. Just come here and a ball for a year for us.”

Diggs, listed on 6 feet 5 and 260 pounds, said he could play anywhere on the protective front and was not concerned about the level of talent against Power four opponents. For him, the offensive line and the protective line are consistent at every level.

“I say that doesn’t change anywhere,” Diggs said.

“I feel that this is the same wherever you go, but I want to say that as far as it is.

Why Deamontae Diggs made the position to change in the protective liner

Diggs was a person with many talents.

Growing up at McKeesport, Pennsylvania, 30 minutes outside Pittsburgh, Diggs was an excellent athlete in high school, playing three different sports: football, basketball and baseball.

Diggs did not intend to play a defensive line at the beginning. The then 210-year-old was a wide receiver in McKeesport Area High School. When he enrolled in Youngstown, he moved to a narrow end. After he was finally convinced to change positions, he eventually found his home as a protective liner.

“The coaches have always told me, ‘You put a hand into the dirt, you will make a lot of money by playing a defensive line. “Said Diggs.

“I never listened to him. I wanted to mark sensors, but he always told me. I just never listened until I got to college, and they make me more to do as if I was just blocking in the tight end so I’m Like, why not go to try and play defensive equipment and I ultimately liked it.

From Penguin to Chanticleer to Seminole

Diggs was a highly appointed perspective that engaged in Cincinnati. Due to unsuccessful estimates, he was a late qualifier.

He had two options: get the Juco route or play for Youngstown State, the only team offering the local McKeesport. He became a penguin. Diggs saw the action as a sophomore in 2022.

He appeared in 10 games and recorded 10 games, 4.5 shells for loss and two bags. The following year, penguins had their best season in eight years with 8-5 records.

Diggs registers four bags as a rotary player. He walked into the transfer portal and signed to play for the Carolina Coast. In one season, he ended with the top 34 career equipment, 6.5 loss of loss, 5.0 bags and two deviations of the pass at seven starts.

“I just continued to grind. Come from Youngtown, it’s less school. We had a lot of talents there my year before I transferred and I had many people to watch. They were all good,” Diggs said.

“Everyone who transferred with me. All of them went to a better school, Power Five, just a better school than where we were, but I’ll just say.”

After the season, Diggs again entered the portal with another year of eligibility. Some of the remarkable offers he received included Purdu and Kansas.

FSU offered the former Chanticleer on December 30th. Three days later, he officially visited the campus and was committed to the day after his visit.

“Growing up, it’s a dream school for many people where I’m from. Like everyone, it’s, I don’t know, like Alabama for many people where I’m from,” Digs said.

“For me to come here is a real moment. Probably the first of my city to ever do, so it’s a different feeling.”
