Dawn Staley’s most large challenges left over to repeat South Carolina, including Uconn – Greenville News game

Columbia – some pressure gave way to South Carolina’s women’s basketball on November 24, when Gamecocks lost to UCLA.

South Carolina and Coach Dawn Staley can no longer remain unbeaten as last season. The guard of the Te-Hina Paopao point revealed after the match that it was never the goal of remaining unbeaten, but there are still aspects of last season that this year the team wants to reflect.

The fourth National Championship for Staley and Gamecocks. In the middle of the SEC game, No.2 Gamecocks (20-1, 8-0 Sec) are the only team without losing a conference. Eight games down, five of which were against the ranked opponents and began on Sunday (lunch, Secre Network) against Obun, South Carolina began the last match of the conference game.

Here are obstacles that Gamecocks can face, benefits that have and what seems February to the ruling champions.

South Carolina in Texas 2 Circle against Madison Bukar

South Carolina held the Texas star Madison Booker up to seven points in the victory of Gamecocks 67-50 on January 5 in Colombia. Brie Hall’s defense efforts played a big role on a low night, but Booker missed an uncharacteristic amount of shots, ending 3 out of 19.

Booker scored 21 points against the Alabama game, before he continued to score 22 points, 28, 26 and 12.

Texas shoots 27.9%, but Longhorns is likely to shoot better at Austin on February 9 (14:00, ESPN).

To face Texas twice is already a challenge, but South Carolina knows that Longhorns are hungry for more ordinary production and want to protect their own home court, just as Gamecocks does.

South Carolina, Dawn Staley vs. Uconn, Geno Auriemma in Colombia

Uconn plays in South Carolina on February 16 (13:00, ABC).

Guardians such as Paige Bouquet, which is planned to be this year’s choice of WNBA, and Azi Food, which shoots 40% of the territory of 3 points, will pose a threat to Hall and Raven Johnson. But South Carolina will have the crowd of Colonial Life Arena if the fans are as strong as they were during the LSU game.

South Carolina won the last four matches against Uconn and five of the last six, including 83-65 last year in Colombia.

Uconn is No. 2 in the network and South Carolina is # 1. The Husky (20-2, 11-0 large east) are 6-1 on the road and Gamecocks are 10-0 at home.

Joyce Edwards on South Carolina vs. Sarah Strong Matches on Uconn

Uconn has a star freshman Sarah Strong, player # 1 of the class of 2024.

Strong, 6 feet-2, an average of 17.3 points and 7.9 struggles per game.

Who can upset South Carolina in SEC

Staley said after the victory against Tennessee on Monday that anyone in SEC can beat anyone in a given night.

In 2021-22, Missouri received the best from South Carolina and won 70-69 to start a SEC game. Staley’s team still continued to win a national championship, but this loss was proof that everything could happen.

Although the glove of the ranked opponents has ended for Gamecocks, they close the season against three talented teams.

Vanderbilt has freshman Michael Blax, upset Tennessee and lost only to LSU by six, then beat Alabama.

The South Carolina Senior Day game is on March 2 against Kentucky, which is linked third in SEC. Georgia Amor is an average of 18.3 points, which is No. 7 on Sec. It will be a challenge, no matter what, but it can be a trap game if the joyful day of the senior day is translated into a non -standard game.

Between these two teams with red combustion and a third well -trained team in Ole Miss, South Carolina should relate to all three, just like playing team # 1 in order to avoid any drop out of a late season that affects the sowing of the tournament.
