Daniel E. Gilbert – Bellefontaine Examiner

Daniel E. Gilbert, 91, from Urbana, died at 9:18 pm on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the Regional Medical Center of Springfield. He was born in Belphontein, Ohio on February 21, 1933, to the late Johnson E. Huck and Martha B. (Ward) Gilbert.

On July 17, 1964, he married Mira J. (Hague) Gilbert and she survives.

Daniel also survived his children Kimberly (John) McNili and Timothy W. Gilbert; grandchildren, Jamie (Kevin) Clifford, Jessica (Eli) Alt, Jared McNili, Timothy (Brana) Gilbert and Gart Gilbert; great -grandchildren, Ava, Chloe, Kigan, Frankie, Oliver, Ava, August, Mason and one on the way.

Together with his parents, Daniel was preceded by the death by his daughter -in -law Jody Lin Gilbert.

Daniel was a US Air Force veteran with a special career as a surveyor, including many years in the office of Logan County Engineer. He was an active member of the Historical Society of Champagne County, acting a previous president and held life membership in the historical company of Logan. In addition, Daniel was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a deep reporting on the state of Bukeys and was an enthusiastic model railway hobbyist. Daniel will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.

Pastor Brian Meadows will serve as a funeral service at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the Eichholtz and Sanford Cremation Center and Cremation Center and Cremation, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine. The visit will be one hour before the service on Friday from 1:00 pm to 14:00 at the funeral home. The funeral will follow the service in the Rusylvania Cemetery, with military rituals provided by the honorary security of Logan County Veterans.
