Dan Helmer is suing for $ 15 million because of allegations of sexual assault – Virginia Mercury

Del. Dan Helmer, D-Fairfax, goes back. Months after he faced allegations of a sexual assault that had emerged just days before his primary congress, Helmer filed a slander of $ 15 million, claiming that the accusations were politically motivated and consciously false.

Helmer who came second in Nomination to present the 10th district of Virginia last June was charged with Reduction Six years ago – the claims for the first time reported by Note and is related to members of the Democratic Committee of Loudoun (LCDC). The report suggests that the claims have led the local party to implement a sexual harassment policy.

At that time, Helmer rejected the allegations as “unfounded” and “without specific details.”

“They were made for the first time a week before elections by people who approved my opponents,” Helmer told Notus last summer. “I am proud that my record is facing harassment. “

Helmer is now taking court action. His claim is called Lisa Savalio, the former chairman of LCDC, as the woman is mentioned in the allegations of last summer.

They are also stated in the case, are Avram Ficheter, a former member of LCDC, lawyer Charles King, who represents Savaglio, and two unnamed defendants, listed as John and Jane Dow – all of whom Helmer claims to have spoken to harm his reputation.

The claim accuses the defendants of publishing “famous lies” for Helmer for a combination of “personal, political and financial motives”.

It alleges that in early May 2024, Savvalio turned to Helmer to warn him that the “activist of the local sites” asked her about rumors about sexual disorders involving the two. According to the case, she does not give more details, but he supposedly admitted that the rumors are not true, likening them “typical Republican tactics”.

As evidence, the case includes a screenshot of text messages that are believed to be between Helmer and Savvalio, as well as an image of Savvalio at another event on the night of the alleged incident – suggesting that it is not with Helmer when the wrongful behavior is It took place.

The claim also claims that Fechter, who has publicly supported Savalio’s allegations, has contributed to a political action committee that funds advertising to attack Helmer for charges.

In addition, it is stated that both Fechter and Savalio have supported the candidate of the State Senate, who could benefit politically if Helmer’s main rival, Sukhas Subramam, won the place of Congress.

A member of Helmer’s employees declined to comment on the waiting lawsuit, which was filed with the Fairfax District Court. The campaign also did not provide more details about the unnamed persons listed in the trial.

The other defendants in the case did not respond for comment until this publication.

Since Helmer is now fighting the battle before the court, the fight for these claims – and their political fall – is far from over.

Take the morning titles.
