Culinary Co-op, Golden Chick Featured in Business News Lubbock – Lubbockonline.com

Hello AJ Readers!

A new chicken restaurant and a feature for a business that recently started an after-school cooking program are among the Lubbock business highlights this week.

The Golden Chick, which started in Texas in 1967, returned to Lubbock on Monday. This time, the first of two planned locations opening at Walmart, 6315 82nd St. A second, standalone location is expected to open in late 2025, though the location has not been confirmed as of this week.

We also learned about a unique business – The Culinary Co-op, 5044 Frankford Avenue, #900. Owner Sherry Bolton talks about how she wants to create a space that allows for exploration, growth and community. Bolton does this by allowing people to rent kitchen space, cook hosts, and just started an after-school cooking program with three Lubbock ISD schools.

“A lot of people can’t afford that upfront cost of a brick-and-mortar shop or kitchen, so a lot of them tend to just work out of their house,” says Sherry Bolton Clark, owner. “I wanted to develop something in a safe space for people to come and express their culinary vision here, so that’s what I did.”

Going into next week, I hope to have information about a locally made unique breakfast and a summary of all the businesses that opened, closed or announced in January. As of this week, there is less than January 2023 and 2024, but we still have a week to turn things around.

As always, thank you for reading and supporting AJ.
