Cuban teenager Derek Rosa’s family raises more than $ 140,000 for his legal protection – Noticias de cuba En Miami

Derek Rosa’s relatives, a 14-year-old Cuban boy accused of killing his mother Irina Garcia, Hyalea, Florida, raised more than $ 140,000 to finance his legal representation.

Delgis Raina Fonseca, a supporter of Derek and his family, told Univision 23: “We believe in Derek’s innocence and will continue to support him and his family to the very end.”

On Friday, February 7th, Derek had a hearing, his defense confirmed his request for images restored from his mobile phone, which the prosecutor’s office claimed to be crucial in the case. The prosecutor’s office said that a specialist in digital forensics had previously considered this evidence.

Derek Rosa faced a trial of an incident that took place on October 12, 2023, when the 13-year-old Minor took the life of her mother Irina Garcia, at 39, at her home in Hyalea, Florida.

Following her arrest, Rosa is accused of being an adult and faced charges of first -degree murder.

Derek is currently imprisoned at the Metrowst detention center, an adult facility, although his legal team is trying to move it to a minor detention center. They claim that because of its age and autism and ADHD diagnoses, it deserves more appropriate treatment.

Important hearing is expected to be held in the coming weeks, which will determine the course of the trial.
