Crews respond to fire that started in the kitchen of St. Gerard Avenue’s home – WAFB

Baton Rouge, La. (WAFB) – Firefighters were fighting flames at a home in Baton Rouge on Tuesday night, February 4th.

According to the Batton Rouge fire service, the fire became at Avenue St. Gerard near McKelenland Drive.

When the firefighters arrived at the scene, they saw smoke and flames coming from the side of the house. A resident and a dog had already escaped safety.

Officials believe the flames started in the kitchen of the home because of a post that was left unattended for a stove. The flames were contained in the kitchen.

No injuries have been reported.

The Red Cross was summoned to help the displaced resident.
