Crews respond to fire in Wisconsin Rapids Paper Mill – Wsaw

WisConsin Rapids, WIS. (WSAW) – Tuesday night, Wood County crews responded to a fire at the former Wisconsin Rapids paper mill.

The Newschannel 7 talks with the Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department, who confirmed that the department had been summoned shortly before midnight.

At 3:30, the fire was contained inside the mill and did not appear to be distributed by the facility.

The cause of the fire or if there are injuries, it has not been released Wednesday morning.

The paper mill was first closed by Verso in 2020, taking 900 jobs with it. Quickly forward by September 2024 the city issued a permit to demolish to rail and dismantling the Midwest.
