An argument across the street from Legion Field led to a shooting Friday afternoon.
One man has non-life threatening injuries and another is in custody.
The shooting happened shortly before 2:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Eighth Avenue West, where many had gathered for the Magic City Classic festivities.
Sergeant LaQuitta Wade said a man bought some type of electronics from an out-of-town dealer and paid for them with counterfeit money. When the seller realized the money was fake, he took it away and a physical altercation broke out between the two men.
The suspect then, Wade said, shot the vendor.
Officers were in the area and quickly responded, taking the suspect into custody.
The injured vendor was taken to UAB Hospital and is expected to be OK.
About an hour later, a man was reported shot in the leg in a residential area in the 800 block of Seventh Street West. His injuries were not life-threatening.
