EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, La. (WAFB) – The medical examiner was called after a driver was pulled from a vehicle found submerged in a lake in East Baton Rouge Parish.
Officials said the car was found submerged in about eight feet of water in the area of Bluebonnet Boulevard and Harveston Way. The driver was extricated from the vehicle early on Sunday, October 20.
The driver has been identified as Alex Gonzalez-Hernandez, 40, according to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Gonzalez-Hernandez was traveling north on Bluebonnet Boulevard, turned right and crashed into a wooden fence. According to EBRSO, after Gonzalez-Hernandez’s vehicle went through the fence, it struck a tree, breaking the tree in two and then landed in the pond.
According to the EBRSO, the medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
