Comedian Dave Chapel will receive the NAACP President Award in Pasadena – San Bernardino County Sun

Comedian Dave Chapel will be awarded the NAACP President Award at the 56th Awards of the NAACP image in Pasadena this month, organizers said today.

The President’s Award distinguishes persons for special achievements and distinctive public service. Past recipients include Usher, Gabrielle Union-Wade, Dwyane Wade, Rihanna, Lebron James, Spike Lee and Lauryn Hill.

“The President’s Award distinguishes an unwavering dedication to the community and throughout his distinctive career Dave Chapel has been constantly recognized as a powerful voice of social consciousness,” NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson said in a statement. “Through his unique ability to turn complex political issues into a provocative humor, Dave reinforced his place as one of the most influential voices of our time.”

The 51 -year -old Chapel is the recipient of 2019 of the prestigious Mark Twain Award for American Humor. His work has won more than 30 television nominations and awards and projects for projects that include his innovative comedy television series “Chapel Show”, several special comedies and numerous visiting appearances on Saturday night live.
