The Colorado Buffaloes women’s basketball team will open its 50th season on Monday, traveling to Laramie to take on the Wyoming Cowgirls.
Four of CU’s first six games will be against opponents from the Mountain West Conference, which the Cowgirls finished third in last regular season with an 11-7 record (18-15 overall). Head coach JR Payne and the Buffs will see Boise State, Nevada and Utah State in the next three weeks.
Wyoming was 1-4 last season against power conference opponents, with its only win coming against a Big 12 foe in BYU.
This season, a vastly different Colorado team features 10 new players, half of whom are either freshmen or have not played collegiately due to injury. Frieda Foreman leads a veteran trio of returning rotation players and is likely to play Monday despite missing CU’s preseason exhibition against Colorado School of Mines with a leg injury.
Tip-off from the Arena-Auditorium in Laramie is scheduled for 5:30 PM MT on Monday
