It should come as no surprise that Colorado’s Travis Hunter will likely be the x-factor in this matchup. Regularly totaling over 100 snaps per game thanks to his roles on both sides of the football, Hunter made history during the Buffs’ final timeout against Cincinnati.
Following the 34-23 win over the Bearcats, Hunter was not only named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, but was also named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week. He is the first player to win both titles in the same week — another feather in Hunter’s cap as he continues his journey to New York as a Heisman Trophy finalist.
On the offensive end, Hunter caught nine passes for 153 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while on defense he recorded four pass breakups and a pair of tackles. Coach Prime said after the game that he expects a similar performance from Hunter on a weekly basis – which could prove to be a nuisance for the Red Raiders on Saturday.
Still, Texas Tech is 4-1 at home this season and Saturday’s game against Colorado is the last chance the Red Raiders have to play in a ranked game this season as the Buffs look to move past them on their way to a potential Big 12 berth in the championship.
