The Boise State men’s basketball team will try to expand its winning series to five games tonight while Broncos travels to Viejas Arena to face San Diego State in a key match at the end of the West Mountain season.
Broncos (17-7, 9-4 MWC) average 74.5 game points after a loss of 75-72 in Colorado on January 6th.
San Diego State (16-6, 9-4) is out of winning 69-66 in San Jose State, and the Aztecs are a week, removed from 68-63 loss to Colorado. Aztecs and RAMs split their regular series.
Broncos and the Aztecs need a win tonight to stay in the race for the regular seasonal Mountain West Championship, which is led by New Mexico (21-4, 13-1) and Utah (22-3, 12-2). Boise State, San Diego State and Colorado State (15-9, 9-4) are currently bound to No. 3 in the conference.
The game tonight includes the first two defenses in the Mountain West. The Aztecs give up 63.3 points per night, leading the conference and ranks # 12 in the country. Boise State is transmitted 65.8, which is ranked # 2 in the conference.

I predict Boise State Wins, 73-70.
San Diego State had broncos number in winning 76-68 in Idaho earlier this season, thanks to a large extent to win the battle for rebound and receiving 22 points from Miles Bird guards.
Aztecs were in very narrow matches this season, including 73-70 overtime victory over then. 6 Houston. They also defeated the Air Force in the overseas and lingered to win two points over Wyoming. Two of their six losses were five points or less.
San Diego State has been tested by a battle team, but is struggling to put points this season. Aztecs are an average of 71.1 game points, which ranks # 8 in the 11th Mountain West.

There is one area that Boise State needs to be improved if it will beat the Aztecs tonight. Broncos have fought from a 3-point range in their last two games, passing 7-for-25 against UNLV and 6-for-19 against San Jose State.
