Claire Ann (Rhodes) Gilbert – Lewistown Sentinel

She was born on September 26, 1940 in Reedsville, of the late Frank L. and Rosette M. (Konoway) Rhodes. On February 9, 1960, she married John Ak Gilbert, who survived at their home.

Together with her husband, she survived from children: David J. Gilbert and wife Karen of Belville, Frank W. Gilbert of Lewistown, Keith N. Gilbert and wife, Susan, Lewistown, Lacy T. Gilbert Carmany and husband, Jason, Lewistown; Six grandchildren: Amanda Spurlok of Belville, Joshua Gilbert and wife, Rachel, Columbus, Ohio, Levi Gilbert from Lewistown, Brea, Vanessa and Michael Carney, all from Lewistown; Two great -grandchildren: Parker Spurlok of Belville, Eleanor Gilbert of Columbus, Ohio. She had also survived special nephews and nephews: Sean, Rose, Cheen and Marisa Codriet and Ryan Romig, all from Lewistown.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by the death by Sister Loula Codriet and the infant sister Catherine Louise Rhodes. She was the last of her nearby family.

He graduated from Arm-Brown High School in 1958. Over the years, he worked for American Viscose Corp, J&D Bus Company, Bushers Brothers Bus Company and co-owned the Gilbert, Milroy truck repair. Between the jobs she serves as a hostess.

She was a member of the Lutheran Church of St. Paul, Milroy. She served as a filling organist and pianist in the church and also served in the Church Council.

She enjoyed sketching and drawing and even visited Penn State for a semester, studying graphic design. She gladly read the Bible and shared her walk with God. Most of all, she liked to spend time with her family.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025 at noon at the Henderson-Bon funeral home, 55 N. Main Street, Reedsville, with Vicar Ruth Ann Kefart and Reverend Mike Sigler. There will be a visit from 11am by the time of service. The funeral will be held at the Mount Rock Cemetery, Lewistown.
