Vermont Business Magazine The Safety Dam Program in Vermont works with the US Army Engineering Corps, the Nova England Department (USACE NAE), according to plans for the Waterbury Dam Project. This main project aims to improve the functionality of existing flood gates and to be repaired in a degraded concrete of the dam. The aim is to rehabilitate the transfusion and to restore the functionality of the full protection of floods in the dam.
“Supported by the Federal and State Dollars, the Waterbury Dam Processing project will not only improve the work of the dam and public safety, but also support the recreation and water quality in the Waterbury Tank and the Little River,” DEC Commissioner Jason Bathelder said S “This collaboration with our federal partners is also crucial to reducing the risks of floods in the communities down the chain.”
To date, the project team has completed preliminary engineering analyzes and evaluation. The plan is to start engineering design in the spring of 2025 until the spring of 2027 and the construction is currently planned to begin in 2027.
As part of project planning, USACE NAE issued a public notice and prepared a draft environmental evaluation (EA). It provides an overview of the construction process, evaluates the potential environmental and cultural impacts of the proposed project and includes information on the temporary reduction of the tank, which will accompany the reconstruction of the overflow.
