LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – In a heartfelt ceremony, the city of Laredo officially renamed the Slaughter Park Trail the Korean Veterans Walkway, honoring the sacrifices of Korean War veterans.
The renaming marks a significant step in recognizing the contributions of those who served in the Korean War, with many veterans in attendance.
It is a recognition of their service and the sacrifices made by so many. Korean War veteran Ernesto Sanchez was in attendance.
Sanchez noted, “With this trail and the completion of our Route 359, it will tell people that their sons and daughters who were lost in war will never be forgotten.”
Sanchez added that he hopes by renaming Route 359 and the walkway, people will know about the Korean War and stop calling it the “Forgotten War.”
