The City of Medicine Hat’s water management plan has ended after the Alberta government deactivated water sharing agreements for the Oldman River and the South Saskatchewan River.

Jamie Garland, director of environmental services for the City of Medicine Hat, said they are grateful to all water users who have volunteered to conserve water in 2024.

“Your efforts helped us exceed our 10 percent water reduction goal, reducing water use by 17 percent from May 1 to September 31 compared to the same months in 2023,” Garland said.

“This is a clear indication that every drop really counts.”
