LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – City of McAllen Public Works crews were scheduled to be in Laredo for 14 days to assist with a boil water advisory.
These crews were certified to assist and conduct inspections in contaminated areas and arrived on Saturday, October 19th.
They were instructed to check line by line until they found the root cause of the problem.
McAllen Public Works Director and Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator, Elvira Alonzo, explained that the South Texas Council was created several years ago to help others.
Alonzo said, “I feel like it’s really solidified the partnerships so we can trust each other to call when we need help. I feel very honored that the City of Laredo reached out to the City of McAllen for assistance.”
Alonzo added that they have created a strong task force in the Rio Grande Valley to help neighboring communities.
