Tallahasesee International Airport will receive a $ 6.7 million federal grant to finance critical infrastructure improvements, city authorities have recently announced. Funding, awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration infrastructure grant program, will be used for new fees and survivors of lighting aimed at increasing safety and efficiency.

According to a press release from the city of Talahai, the grant will support the construction of a taxi B11 and B12, as well as the rehabilitation of the existing Bravo taxi. Improvements are expected to minimize the debris of foreign sites and extend the life of the key infrastructure airport.

While airport employees could not be reached for comment, previous reports from the city emphasized the importance of these improvements. In a statement by City’s press release, David Pollard, Aviation Director for the city, said: “Through our terminal modernization project, track improvements, parking improvements and others, we are committed to providing world -class travel experience.”

This grant is part of TLH’s constant efforts to modernize its facilities and expand its role in regional and international trips. In 2019, the airport provided a federal grant of $ 1.77 million for the design of an international passenger processing facility and a federal inspection station.

The previous coverage of the city of Talahasi also emphasized the economic potential of this project. Tallahasesee’s ability to bring exports internationally will help to grow the local economy and are great news for the community and businesses throughout the region, said Mayor John Daily in a preliminary statement from the city’s press release.

IPPF is a key element of the multi -year expansion of TLH’s terminal, $ 28 million that aims to hold international flights and facilitate global trade, according to Florida Construction News. Officials believe this expansion will position TLH as a major center for both passenger and freight operations in Northwestern Florida.

In addition, the city is moving forward with the project at the airport portal, which is due to start construction this year. The initiative will improve the connectivity between TLH and the center of Talahassi with improved roads, bicycle lanes, sidewalks and upgraded landscaping, signs and lighting.

The economic impact of these improvements can be significant. TLH is located near the innovation park, the home of more than 30 organizations, including the National Laboratory for Magnetic Fields of High Magnetic and Danfoss Turbocor. City leaders predict that upgraded airport facilities will support economic growth and increase business opportunities in the region.

As Tallahassee International Airport continues to expand and modernize, travelers and residents can expect improvements that increase safety, accessibility and overall travel attempt.
