City authorities take a legislative trip to Austin – KGNS

Laredo, Texas (KGNS) – This week, Laredo employees are in Austin to insist on political support, financing and economic development.

Earlier this week, the mayor, Dr. Victor Trevino, members of the Council and Police of Laredo and firefighters headed to the capital of the state for a series of meetings.

City authorities spoke with Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Ministry of Public Safety for some of the grants awarded to Laredo, as well as for future funding opportunities.

Trevino believes that these trips are vital to make sure our city is well represented so that it can continue to grow. Noting: “If we do not go out here, then other areas may receive funding. Because the people who stand for the place where they live are those who are heard. If we do not come here, then the funding may not be distributed as we should, so it is very important to come here, to say what we need, how important we are and to continue to achieve our message. “

He added that the city authorities are ready to meet the governor of Lieutenant Dan Patrick to discuss some of the immigration problems. The mayor is expected to return from Austin this Thursday, February 6th.
