During the meeting of the Laredo Municipal Council on February 18, the lawyer of US Civil Freedoms of Texas (ACLU) informs community members of their rights when dealing with immigration authorities.
Lawyer David Almaraz stresses that the citizens or not, you have rights. Stating: “You have the right not to answer certain questions. You have the right to remain silent. You must be correct to ask for a lawyer. “

She added that as immigration continues to be a focus, it is important for local authorities to inform people about their civil rights.

Almazra states that in such situations, people should remain polite and follow instructions, and if asked about your immigration status, you have the right to remain silent.

Moving forward, he believes that local authorities should return against the policies that are advertised throughout the country.
