Christmas in St. Michaels Announces 2024 Gingerbread House and Collectible Ornament Contest – Eye On Annapolis

The annual Christmas at St Michaels the celebration is set to return this December featuring the popular Gingerbread House Competition. and the release of 2024 Collector’s ornament. The event starts with a Gingerbread House Preview Cocktail Party on Thursday, December 12at 5 in the afternoon at the Women’s Club of St. Michaels.

Gingerbread House Contest with $2,000 in prizes

Bakers and pastry chefs of all ages are invited to participate Gingerbread House Competition.offering a total reward of 2000 dollars. The competition serves as a key fundraising event for St Michael’s Christmas, with entries displayed during the cocktail hour.

Entrants can choose from categories that include Master Chefs, Seniors, Young Adults, Children, Children with Seniors, Kit Houses and Non-Profit Organizations. Registration is free but required, and participants are encouraged to donate their gingerbread creations to a silent auction held during the cocktail party. Proceeds from the auction will benefit local charities supported by Christmas in St Michaels.

The 2024 Collectors Ornament celebrates the Chesapeake Watermen

Besides the gingerbread competition, 2024 Christmas in St. Michaels collectible ornament has been announced. This year’s ornament, the 21st in the series, features a Chesapeake deadrise workboat— a traditional vessel used by the water people of the east coast. The artwork was created by a local artist Sherry Smithshows the boat with its crew and canine companion.

The an ornament available for purchase in local stores as well as Christmas in St. Michaels Marketplace and Sweet Shoppe throughout the event weekend. It can also be ordered online at christmasinstmichaels.org/ornament.

Known for its V-hull and shallow draft, the Chesapeake deadrise workboat has long been a staple for guides navigating the region’s rivers and streams. The 2024 ornament pays tribute to these boats and the vital role they play in the local marine industry.

Christmas at St Michaels is an all volunteer organization which has raised more than 1.7 million dollars has supported community programs focused on children, education and family services since its inception. This year’s event will continue to support these efforts, with proceeds from the gingerbread contest, silent auction and ornament sales being donated to local charities.
