Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs teammates are headed to Super Bowl LIX for a chance at a potential three-peat.
Mahomes totaled 288 yards and three touchdowns as the Chiefs outlasted the Buffalo Bills 32-29 in the AFC Championship Game. The veteran quarterback was constantly challenged by the visiting Bills, but found a way with the help of his teammates to continue Kansas City’s historic performance.
When CBS’ Tracy Wolfson asked about the Chiefs’ ability to dig deep and find a way to win, Mahomes praised the entire team for their ability to deliver big moments.
“I’m so proud of my teammates, I’m at a loss for words for how they responded against a great football team,” Mahomes said. “I’m just speechless, but I’m excited for New Orleans.”
“I think I’ve said it before, it’s not about one guy, it’s not about a few guys, it’s about the whole team. When we needed our defense to stop us, they got stops, when we needed our offense, we did. That’s what makes us so special because it’s a team effort and it’s a team football game.”
