Our programs and services are widely available free of charge on our state radio and television networks, digital platforms, social media and communities throughout our region.

Vermont Public was created in 2021 when Publy Radio and Vermont PBS in Vermont merge into a united public media organization. We are an independent, local and managed community licensee, which means that our license is the property of the Community, not by a government agency. Our main source of funding – more than half – comes from more than 40,000 members who make donations in all sums.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) works closely with the President and Executive Director to protect and grow Vermont’s financial resources, guarantee his long -term sustainability and support the organization’s strategic goals and mission. Considering the Executive Director, the CFO also collaborates with the departments with key external stakeholders (for example, board members, auditors, donors) to bring the financial strategy with organizational priorities. The Finance Officer conducts Vermont’s financial planning and analysis of Public, monitors risk management in finance areas, guarantees compliance with regulatory standards and maintains direct responsibilities to Vermont’s Public Board of Trustees. By providing clear financial information and promoting the culture of transparency, innovation and accountability, the financial officer enables the organization to invest in impactful programming, reach a new and diverse audience and maintain financial health.

Responsibilities

Strategic financial leadership

  • Sets and implements the organizational financial strategy by developing and implementing long -distance financial plans in cooperation with the Executive Director and the leadership team, giving the financial road card with the mission and strategic goals of Vermont Public.
  • It conducts financial planning and analysis by monitoring budgeting, forecasting and financial modeling to provide useful information on effective resource management. It evaluates long -term economic trends to identify their impact on growth, sales and market opportunities.
  • It monitors the risk management frames to maintain accountability, transparency and compliance with regulatory standards. It develops strategies and controls that protect the long -term resistance of Vermont Society.
  • Identifies and mitigates financial risks, including money management, revenue shortage, expenditure and monitors changes in the external environment.
  • Provides timely financial insights and recommendations oriented to the data of the Executive Director, the Board of Directors and the management team, guaranteeing informed decision -making and reasonable distribution of resources.

Financial Operations and High Achievements

  • Observes daily financial functions, including accounting, payable/receivables of bills, salaries, grant management, financial reporting and compliance, providing accuracy and efficiency.
  • Leads the development and implementation of standardized financial processes and systems that partner with the leadership team to optimize financial processes, optimize systems and improve procedures for reporting, reduction of ineffectiveness and support more width operating goals.
  • Identifies, implements and maintains solutions for financial technology, systems and instruments in coordination with IT and other relevant teams to improve financial supervision, reporting and efficiency.

Qualifications

Education and experience

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance with 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, 8+ years demonstrated leadership experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.
  • A demonstrated attempt to manage multiple corporate functions in a complex, socially responsible environment.
  • Expertise in non -profit operations for financial management and accounting, budgeting, forecasting, monitoring of results, financial analysis and conformity (GAAP).
  • Experience with, placement of capital and costs, investment/donations management, treasury management and cash, financing and insurance structures.
  • A solid understanding of private and governmental accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically for the allocation of resources, risk management and growth opportunities, bringing financial results with comprehensive organizational purposes.
  • Professionals in financial systems, management boards, data visualization techniques, database management and accounting software.

Working conditions

The work is usually done in an office environment, climate -controlled, with moderate noise levels (computers, phones, etc.). There are no some environmental hazards in the normal performance of work responsibilities.

Physical requirements
