Chaps finish 10th at Lone Star Conference Championships – LCU Athletics

KINGSVILLE, Texas (October 26, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University finished its run at the Lone Star Conference Championships with a tenth-place finish out of 12 competing institutions.

Senior Caleb Gaona grabbed the top team finish for the Chaparrals, placing 35th overall with a time of 26:00. It’s Gaona’s second-highest finish in a row and his third from the NCAA South Central Regional last season. In addition, Gaona recorded her best time of the season, knocking 16 seconds off her time from their last meeting.

Freshman Samuel Bryan recorded his best result of the season, placing second in the Chaparral standings and 51st overall. Brian had a time of 26:44, a 5 second improvement from the DBU Old Glory Gallop. The rest of the Chaparrals standings were as follows: Alphonse Raval (26:54, 56th), Aidan Zingone (27:31, 71st), Hagen Sage (27:35, 72nd), Liam Kilbride (27:42, 74th), Caden Nunn (28:20, 90th), Luke Mosley (28:21, 91st), Joshua Huang (28:24, 93rd), Angel Avendano (30:20, 101st).

West Texas A&M won the Lone Star Conference Championship and retained all five top finishers. With the win, the Buffaloes have won 12 consecutive Lone Star Conference titles. The top finisher was WT’s William Amponsah with a time of 23:16.

Lubbock Christian will move into national competition when they participate in the NCAA South Central Regional Championships on November 9, 2024 in Denver, Colorado.
