Celebrate the Month of Black History in Baton Rouge with these events – WAFB

Baton Rouge, La. (Wafb) – February is a month of black history.

The Mayor President Sid Edwards President has announced two events to mark the rich contributions, culture and resilience of the African-American community.

On Saturday, February 22, at noon, there will be lunch for black history at Boudreaux Catering to mark the month of black history and Honor Joe Delpit, founder of Chicken Shack, for its lasting impact on the community.

Lunch will include the main address of Deborah Watts, President of the Emet Foundation Emmett to Emmett Emmett. Watts will share powerful insights on the preservation of black history and the continued pursuit of justice and equality.

Pastor Danny M. Donaldson, Senior Church Rose Hill in Baker, will also be present.

The festivities continue Sunday, February 23, from 2pm, with a black holiday of history in Galves Plaza.

Organizers say that the free community event will show black perfection through food, music and culture.

Participants can enjoy live performances on Su Gold N Bluez, Kenny Neal and the Michael Foster project while exploring a varied selection of food suppliers including traditional and modern black cuisine.
