Celebrate Día de los Muertos with Laredo’s Main Street in Downtown Laredo – KGNS

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – Día de los Muertos is a lively holiday rich in tradition and Mexican culture to honor our loved ones who have passed away. This weekend, Laredo Main Street is partnering with several organizations to celebrate the holiday, and Laredo Main Street’s Marilyn Bautista helped share details about the exciting lineup of events and activities that are planned.

Highlights of the event:

  • location: Laredo Center for the Arts, 500 San Agustin Ave.
  • Date and time: November 2, Saturday, from 5 to 8 p.m

This year’s festival will feature a collaborative effort from five organizations, all dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Laredo. The celebration will feature an outdoor stage with live entertainment, food vendors, mariachis and folkloric ballet performances. Additionally, attendees are encouraged to come dressed as “Katrina” for a costume contest, followed by a “fireplace” (walk) to the Arts Center.

There will also be free parking at the Outlet Shoppes at Laredo, along with a free shuttle. Professional photography will also be offered free of charge to those who dress up as “catrinas,” and — for movie buffs — the Laredo Film Society will show a film during the event.
