Renowned artist and fashion illustrator Kerry Hess — whose client list includes the likes of Cartier, Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co — has turned her hand to real estate, revealing the beautiful renovation of a character home in Brisbane’s south.
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 19 Avesnes St, Holland Park has just hit the market and exudes the same style that made the Brisbane-born designer so famous.

Ms Hess said she bought the 1950s house from her parents in 2016, shortly after returning to her hometown from Paris, and has since lovingly restored the home to its former glory , while at the same time modernizing it.
“The feel of the home is now light and comforting with a modern Hamptons sensibility,” she said.
Ms. Hess said she styled the house with lots of pale white and cream tones and a hint of gold.
“There are also some Hamptons touches — in the kitchen and the original restored blue front door and the arched fireplace,” she said.
“That door was actually originally inside cream. I trimmed it to fit the front, restored the gold hardware, and painted Seacliff Blue.
“I have added a beautiful en-suite to the master bedroom and a completely new kitchen and double shed to modernize the property.

“I also thought about everyone I know working from home or with a small business and wanted to create a beautiful and inviting home office space out of what was the original garage.
“I can imagine the owner walking from the house to this lovely separate home office with coffee every morning to create an inspiring business or just work from home with a sense of detachment from everyday life.”
Mrs Hess said the home had been in the family for nearly a quarter of a century so it was sad to say goodbye.
“I always wanted to renovate it to the original features but bring a modern European style to the home.
“I wanted to make it a house that I myself would want to live in.” I feel like my work on the home is now done and I’m excited for the new owner to enjoy living in it!”
The property is scheduled for auction on November 16 with Madi Roche of The Agency, Brisbane.
Records show it was last listed for rent at $625 a week.
Ms Roche sold Ms Hess’ previous home at 70 Barker St, East Brisbane at auction for $2.3 million late last year.
Holland Park is a highly sought after suburb with a median house price of $1.35 million.
