Carson City, Reno and Vegas after December Job Increase – Carson Now

Statewide employment in Nevada increased by 5,300 jobs, or 0.3 percent, from November, an increase of 10,600 jobs (0.7 percent) from December 2023, according to the state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation in 2024 in the economic report.

The unemployment rate in December remained at 5.7 percent and the labor force rose by 1,129, according to the report.

Metropolitan Statistical Area Employment (seasonally adjusted):

– Carson City employment increased by 200 jobs (0.6%) from November, an increase of 700 jobs (2.2%) from December 2023.

-Renault employment down 400 jobs (-0.1%) from November, up 2,100 jobs (0.8%) from December 2023.

– Las Vegas employment increased by 4,200 jobs (0.4%) from November, an increase of 7,800 jobs (0.7%) from December 2023.

“This month’s report shows a slight rebound in employment growth, which rose to 0.7% on the year after adding 5,300 jobs from November to December,” said David Schmidt, Nevada’s chief economist. “The unemployment rate again held steady at 5.7%, while wage growth over the past year accelerated again to its fastest pace this year, rising 6.2%.”
