Authorities say one victim was shot. The shooter has been captured.
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting at the Walmart Super Center in Monkey Junction off Carolina Beach Road.
The sheriff’s office says just before 6 p.mall Walmart employees at 5135 Carolina Beach Road tried to stop a man from shoplifting when a fight broke out.
The suspect brandished a firearm and fired one shot, striking a Walmart employee.
The victim died on the spot.
The suspect fled the Walmart and was confronted in the parking lot by a sheriff’s deputy and then taken into custody. The sheriff’s office says the suspect is no longer a threat to the public.
