Tempe Fire responded to a report of a single vehicle accident at the northwest corner of Scottsdale Road and Red Mountain L-202.
A car crashed into a power pole, causing the pole to shear off at the base and the car to burst into flames.
According to Tempe Fire Radio Traffic:
A 15-year-old male patient was transported from the scene in unknown condition to a local hospital.
Firefighters carefully applied water to the fire farthest from the power lines while checking to see if the lines were still active.
Once the power lines were confirmed to be de-energized, fire crews quickly extinguished the fire.
Due to the power outage in the area affected by the fire, several traffic signals at the intersection were disabled.
Officials closed northbound and southbound traffic on Scottsdale Road on the northbound side of L-202.
DPS was asked to close the eastbound exit ramp to Scottsdale Road.
